Connected learning stories: Creative Arts

The following stories of successful classroom practice the Creative Arts KLA illustrate a range of approaches and strategies for incorporating information and communication technologies (ICT) into teaching and learning.

Early stage 1 to stage 3 students used paint software to create a variety of visual effects.

Early Stage 1 and stage 1 students used paint software to explore shapes, their areas and other geometrical concepts. The digital camera was also used to provide motivating area activities.

Stage 1 and stage 2 students investigated the proprieties of 3D shapes using a range of techniques including paper, pencil and computer

Stage 1 and stage 2 students used slide show software to create a story in the form of a linear electronic book.

Stage 2 and stage 3 students used software to explore the potential of ICT to create portraits. They experimented with ways of altering their images.

Creating a card (pdf - 280kB)

ES1-3 students followed a step-by-step procedure to create their own card using readily available software. Print Shop, Poster or Creative Writer are some of the software packages which could be used for this activity.

Art from Art

Stages 4, 5 and 6 students examine the concept of appropriated imagery. They create an artwork that parodies the original intent of the artist. This activity uses paint software to manipulate images to create the artwork.

Music, movies & sound effects

Stages 4-5 music students created a one minute video and added sound effects using sequencing software.
