A new resource for online learning - Children's Services Diploma

children's services iconLearning takes place more effectively when it is situated in the real world or workplace environments. This is the belief that underpins the design of a new Children’s Services Diploma resource.

Context-based materials were developed to support the resource including videos of child care centres, audio interviews with practitioners, as well as the Summerville Children’s centre site – a simulated childcare centre. The simulated workplace provides an authentic context in which to apply learning.

The resource has been developed for the revised Community Services Training Package (CHC02) and consists of learning topics based on an analysis of the units of competency and complimentary contextual materials for use in an online environment. more

Primary students benefit from a new interactive Maths tool

using maths tracks iconA practical maths resource has been developed to guide primary teachers and to assist students to learn through interactive maths lessons.

Using Maths Tracks is an interactive resource produced by the Centre for Learning Innovation (CLI) to address Board of Studies outcomes for maths and support teachers using Rigby Maths Tracks publications.

A series of sequenced lessons guide students through interactive activities providing answer guides. Teacher notes are included, offering additional resources including related websites and assessment records. Teachers can use the resource as a guide when planning class or group work. It can also be tailored for students’ independent learning, better fitting the needs of individual students. more

New resource for Stage 5 English

indigenous voices icon Indigenous Voices introduces Indigenous poetry, song and stories from Australia, New Zealand, Tonga, Western Samoa and Solomon Islands to Stage 5 English students.

The resource consists of three self-contained parts that include interactive learning activities, based on text, audio and flash animations. Each part is accompanied by learning activities and student writing tasks.

Comprising approximately 16 hours of study, the unit examines the ways language forms and features of Indigenous texts shape meaning. Students have the opportunity to respond to and compose a wide range of texts in a variety of forms. ...more
