Lucy Snowball Masterclass
Lucy Snowball is a statistician with the NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research (BOCSAR).
In this new resource from CLI she talks with students about her work and demonstrates the methods used to analyse crime statistics. The students then analyse data for a range of crimes and present their findings.
The students are from Western Sydney Region schools associated with Lachlan Macquarie College – Arthur Phillip High School, Cumberland High School, James Ruse Agricultural High School, Macarthur Girls High School, Macquarie Boys Technology High School, Marsden High School, Northmead High School and Parramatta High School.
In an interview conducted by two of the students, Lucy answers questions about her background, the importance of mathematics in the real world, challenges for the future, and making a career in mathematics.
