Introduction
Curriculum links
The Murder under the Microscope (MuM) project supports the following NSW syllabuses:
- Stage 3
- Science and Technology
- Human Society and its Environment
- Stages 4 and 5
It also addresses aspects of cross-curriculum content for literacy, numeracy and ICT.
Teachers from other states, territories and countries should use these as a guide to relevant curricula.
Why does the learning matter?
Students become immersed in research and problem-solving activities in order to solve the mystery of the eco-crime. They work in teams to undertake the research and prepare to present their findings. In the final stage of the project, their learning comes together and is synthesised for an authentic purposeāto prepare a plan that ensures the future of the environment.
Quality Teaching model
Murder under the Microscope (MuM) assists teachers to implement the model of pedagogy presented in the Quality Teaching in New South Wales Public Schools discussion paper by the NSW Department of Education and Training.
