Web access implications relating to staff
- Government web pages must be accessible to all staff, including off-site, casual and remote staff, employees with a disability, employees with a language background other than English and employees from an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background
- When a person with a disability is appointed to NSW DET, departmental policy requires modifications to be made to ensure the best possible use is made of their skills
- Disability Policy Action Plans enable government agencies to adjust their programs so that their services better meet the needs of people with disabilities. This includes the training of staff, physical access, access to information about services and access to employment opportunities in the public sector. Web designers should be familiar with the Disability Policy Action Plan submitted by their department so they can assist in its implementation.
