What access barriers do they face?
Some of the barriers your students face in accessing your websites may include:
- poor web design features that exclude users (which may include students with a disability) from accessing information
- older technologies (software and hardware)
- slow, unreliable or expensive Internet service providers (common in rural areas)
- small screens for viewing information
- temporary impairment or illness
- inexperience with computers and/or web use
- slow or poor coordination due to age, medication or disability
- difficulties reading, writing and understanding English
- slow reading or difficulty with information processing which may be the result of:
- a learning disability or difficulty
- an intellectual disability
- an acquired brain injury or neurological impairment
- a medical condition that affects speed of processing
- a psychiatric disability, especially if the student is taking medication
- visual perception difficulties
- concentration difficulties due to pain.
